The Alder

“We have found a true home in this community, and in our warm and inviting house.” Rob and Donna

“John Portman, a renowned architect, once said, ‘We must learn to understand humanity better so that we can create an environment that is more beneficial to people, more rewarding, more pleasant to experience.”‘This encapsulates the essence of Not So Big Homes, the architectural foundation of the house designs at Village Roots. Capturing the best of the Craftsman style, these homes are meant to provide a rewarding and pleasant living experience. The functional and useful designs allow for easy living and aging-in-place. We have found a true home in this community, and in our warm and inviting house. The design and execution of these concepts, along with energy efficiency through solar systems and superb building craftsmanship make the homes of Village Roots a unique and delightful place to live.”

Donna and Rob  –  36 Old Sycamore Lane at Village Roots

With every house plan in Village Roots, you will have a welcoming green side front porch, where you can enjoy your porch swing and still have plenty of room for a table and chairs for neighbors who stop by. You’ll have a private patio, where cookouts or play can be part of your daily routine. The exterior of your home will be clad in durable fiber-cement board siding, and colored in your chosen color scheme from provided choices. Inside, there will be hardwood floors and wide trim around doors and windows to set a warm and inviting tone. All door ways are three-feet in width for aging in place. Life can be complete on the first floor.

Old Sycamore Lane is specifically designed to slow down traffic and encourage a leisurely passage. With a no outlet cul-de-sac design and a neighborhood of only 10 homes, auto traffic will be minimal. A sidewalk and pathways let you head off to the Rails to Trails bike path, the gardens, the barn or in any direction to downtown.
